Volunteer and Internship Opportunities

The St. Croix valley Sexual Assault response Team (SART) needs your help. We’re looking for volunteers to provide support, advocacy and assistance to victims of sexual assault and to further our education and outreach initiatives. No experience is necessary and flexible, specialized training will be provided.

Help make a difference in your community while gaining valuable work experience.

Client Support Volunteer

This position is on-call working with the Forensic Nurse to provide support to sexual assault victims during the interview and exam process either at the SART center or at one of our seven care partner hospitals.

• Ability to work in a medical environment under stressful, crisis situations
• Ability to respond to a call within 30 minutes to any of our crisis locations
• Have access to email and reliable phone
• Pass a background check
• Be at least 21 years of age, with a reliable car and able to work 6 shifts per month
• Attend monthly team meetings and extended training
• Attend 12 hours of specialized training to start and commit to six months of service

Education Volunteer

This position works with schools and classrooms, educating on our Respect Works(link to Classroom Prevention Education page) platform. Various program sections are available for training and we include training to speak to civic organizations, companies and groups to increase our community outreach initiatives.

• Pass a background check
• Be at least 21 years of age, with a reliable car and able to drive to locations within our three county area—Pierce, St. Croix, Polk
• Attend monthly team meetings and extended training
• Attend 12 hours of specialized training on specific prevention education program, your choice for program preference
• Comfortable speaking publicly
• Passionate about prevention education and ending sexual violence
• Ability to work independently

Internship

We offer limited internship opportunities for students currently pursuing degrees in social work, criminal justice, psychology and other human service programs.
